Bakar has released a video for his latest single “Build Me A Way”. The stunning video is directed by acclaimed film maker Fenn O’Meally and is set to build on the success of Bakar’s previous single “The Mission” and its Jack Begert (Kendrick Lamar, Vince Staples, Doja Cat) directed video. Produced by longtime collaborator Zach Nahome, “Build Me A Way” is the latest single from Bakar’s highly anticipated debut album and is another incredible statement from the north London artist, one of the freshest and most vital new voices in music.

Both singles are an enticing but very different glimpse of what to expect from Bakar’s debut album, due for release in 2022. Whereas Bakar’s hugely acclaimed 2018 debut mixtape BadKid embodied the anger and rebellion of a misunderstood kid, the intervening years have seen Bakar increasingly connected to his own heritage, his Islamic faith and a concept of the “Future Immigrant”. These all shape the music Bakar is making right now in 2021; music that is more emotional, expansive and ambitious than anything he has done before.
