Loop Guru issue statement on the passing of o-founder Dave Muddyman

LOOP GURU ISSUE STATEMENT ON THE PASSING OFBAND CO-FOUNDER DAVE MUDDYMAN FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE LONDON, ENGLAND

(THURSDAY MARCH 31, 2022) – It is with great sadness we have to announce that Dave Muddyman (September 29th 1957 – March 27th 2022), founding member of 90s Global dance band Loop Guru, has passed away.

Dave’s life in music started long before Loop Guru burst onto the scene in the early 90s. In the 70s Dave worked at Island Records before joining John Peel-favourites The Transmitters alongside future members of Furniture, Transglobal Underground and Sam Dodson, with whom he would later form Loop Guru.

A thoughtful, intensely private soul, and an explorer by nature, Dave never stopped experimenting and creating art, whether it was through his work with Loop Guru, his writing for the Rough Guide to World Music, his early adoption of the Koan generative technology or his later work on his Echoflex projects. He was the Loop that stayed in the studio whilst the live band toured the world exhilarating audiences with the celebratory and joyful music Sam and Dave created. A musician, a writer and an artist, he will be missed. Our thoughts are with his wife Val and all his family and friends. Remember Dave fondly for the music he helped create.
