Kvelertak – ‘Meir’
If you go onto facebook and search for Kvelertak all they have in their about me section is “Kvelertak is a band from Norway that plays rock music”. After listening to Meir all day I can definitely say their statement needs the words “kick ass” somewhere in there.
Hailing from Oslo the birth place of death punks Turbonegro, Kvelertak are showing that there’s more than enough room in this city for two great bands. A sound that embodies the two main aspects of alternative from rock and roll through to metal shows that Kvelertak take their craft very seriously.
Having only been released days ago Meir is already making waves in the rock scene and featuring all over threads on internet forums and in groups on social networking sites such as twitter and facebook. Kvelertak aren’t deviating between a lot of different genres but still do a great job at not being pigeon holed to one specific style.
Stand out tracks for me have to be ‘Undertro’ and the track they gracefully named after themselves ‘Kvelertak’. These tracks as well as the entire album just scream rock and roll from start to finish and contain what everyone wants from a good old rock album.
Don’t let the Norwegian language put you off as this is all about the music and the groove of the band in my eyes. 8.2/10
