Hardcore Punks ‘Still Bust’ Announce Debut Album With Promo Trailer
UK Hardcore Punks ‘Still Bust’ Announce Debut Album With Promo Trailer – 20th May Via Lockjaw Records
Sam Piper – Drums | Matt Raybould – Bass | Matthew Stanley- Vocals/Guitar | Ed Hudson – Vocals/Guitar
Gloucester hardcore punk quartet Still Bust have clocked up an impressive list of bizarre accomplishments in their near decade as a band. They’ve covered an inebriated Asian in so much flour that a magazine saw fit to give them a prize, witnessed a dead trucker in a snow storm, destroyed a house, left a van in Germany and drunk homemade wine while setting fire to each other’s pubic hair in a Croatian bungalow. You might notice this list does not so far include what would usually be regarded as quite an important step for a band – write and record a debut album.
It’s a triumph for UK punk rock procrastination, then, that on 20th May 2013 Still Bust finally release their début album A Few Things We Might Agree On (A Few Things We Might Not) on Lockjaw Records. View and embed the promo trailer here:
Taking influence from intense contemporaries like the now defunct Blakfish and the technical ferocity of The Dillinger Escape Plan, the album is a sledgehammer of a record that takes no prisoners in its head-down, full frontal assault on the senses. Following on from debut EP ‘Pile O’Knives’ this release is the next logical step – one notch more rabid on the foaming-at-the-mouth insanity scale, satisfyingly bulked out in the haymaker riffs department and lyrically disturbingly more diverse, with topics ranging from discussions on an afterlife without religion to the downright bizarre ravings of a madman being a metaphor for a penis.
This album might have been 10 years in the making but it was certainly worth the wait, as Still Bust proudly fly the flag for the UK underground – let’s hope there are no more dead truckers as they hit the road on their European tour in April.
Album artwork and track list:
1. If you don’t like video games (you probably have other interests)
2. Tastes like asbestos (from little Richard came)
3. How much we sound like Rise Against (and other things we shouldn’t say to each other)
4. Ball (sac magique)
5. Physicist at a funeral (godless thoughts on death)
6. This box is for standing on (but look how big it is!)
7. First world (band) problems
8. There’s a difference between being arrogant and being right (but you wouldn’t realize that because you’re not as smart as me)
9. Squid and human are close to each other (herring is the outgroup)
10. Be optimistic (said the mayfly)
A Few Things We Might Agree On (A Few Things We Might Not) is out 20th May 2013 via Lockjaw Records. Pre order the album from 20th April – more info and store here: http://www.lockjawrecords.co.uk
