Electronic brutalist minimalist Mika Vainio, ex of Finnish‘tronic power duo Pansonic, is set to release a new solo album on the blastfirstpetite label on the 27th of May 2013.
‘Kilo’, is the beat driven follow-up to 2011’s harrowing ‘Life Eat’s You Up’, and features ten brand new self produced tracks, recorded at his home studio in Berlin over the last few months.

Since Pansonic “went in the deep freezer” in 2009, Mika Vainio has released a string of critically acclaimed releases under his own name and aliases such as Ø on editions Mego, Touch, Wavetrap and Sähkö and has worked with the likes of Alan Vega, Keiji Haino, Chicks on Speed, John Duncan and Bruce Gilbert. Constantly challenging and innovative, his work is respected and renowned for it’s analogue warmth and electronic harshness. Be it his abstract drone sound or minimal avant techno, Vainio has produced a fantastic and truly unique back catalogue and this album sees him continue to create and explore new and exciting physical music.
Following Vainio’s well received and sold out show at Dalston’s Café Oto in January, he returns to London for a special show at Heaven on Sunday the 19thof May. He plays the House Of Un-American Activities’ special ‘Slaves to the Rhythm” event alongside American space cosmonauts Excepter and headliners Chris Carter and Cosey Fanni Tutti whoperform as CARTER-TUTTI and play their Chris & Cosey material.
