Griff shares ‘Vol.1’ live performance film External Inbox

Griff has today shared Vol.1 Live – a beautiful visual shot at The Queens House, Royal Museum Greenwich, to accompany her latest project. The short film was premiered by Griff for an intimate audience of fans at Selfridge’s last night, where she also offered an exclusive glimpse of new music to come next year…

The Vol.1 Live performance film begins with dizzying lead single ‘Vertigo’, as Griff walks the viewer down the staircase (a spiral motif threaded through her new era) and right into her latest chapter of music. Throughout, Griff explore the stunning grounds of The Queens House, Royal Museum Greenwich, and excavates her most emotionally-raw music to date: from the claustrophobic pop of ‘Into The Walls’ to ‘19th Hour’, which Griff builds live from scratch in the gardens. A live visual for ‘Astronaut’, newly added to the 4-track vert1go vol.1, teased the film’s launch last week: a suitably out-of-this-world ballad, ‘Astronaut’ features songwriting-hero and touring-partner Chris Martin playing piano on record.

vert1go vol.1 is an atmospheric and cinematic start of a brand new era from Griff. A multi-hyphenate singer, producer, designer and pop outlier, she played just one gig prior to the pandemic in support of DIY EP Mirror Talk, with lockdown mixtape One Foot In Front of The Other rocketing Griff to pop stardom whilst stuck in her bedroom. The barrier-breaking project became the first mixtape from a female artist to go top 5, with Griff winning the prestigious BRITS Rising Star, two NME Awards, and surpassing 660M+ streams to date in support of homemade hits like ‘Black Hole’. Having been invited to tour with some of today’s biggest artists – including Ed Sheeran, Dua Lipa, Coldplay and Florence + the Machine – at the centre of it all vert1go vol.1 is a reminder that Griff, like anyone of her generation, is figuring out her place in the world: new mindset, new hair, and a once-in-a-generation talent ready to scale new artistic heights.
