This weekend saw Shed Seven play two triumphant sold-out 30th anniversary shows at York’s Museum Gardens – gigs which inspired The York Press to state, “If you could put together the wish-list Shed Seven-in-heaven gig, this was surely it.” Shed Seven documented an unforgettable weekend by taking the opportunity to shoot the video for the new version of ‘Getting Better’, which opens their upcoming orchestral reworks album ‘Liquid Gold’.
The video is a joyous celebration of one of the biggest highlights of Shed Seven’s career. It captures every moment of the day: fans getting the party underway as they arrive; Rick Witter strolling through the audience and posing for photos and pinching a sip of beer; clips of friends including Peter Doherty, Lottery Winners, Rowetta, Laura McClure and Seratones (featuring Rick’s son Duke) all relishing the occasion; and the band embracing before they step on stage. The most emotional moment is saved until the end – the band taking their final bows in front of a sea of adoration.
As Shed Seven posted on socials, “Watch to the end, you won’t be disappointed… you might even feature. Enjoy and thanks once again for making this weekend so special.”
‘Getting Better’ joins ‘Speakeasy’ and ‘Devil In Your Shoes’ in previewing ‘Liquid Gold’ ahead of its release on September 27th. The album concept has captured the imagination of fans leading to phenomenal pre-orders, which are racing ahead of the big numbers that powered their first ever UK #1, ‘A Matter of Time’, back in January.
‘Liquid Gold’ has just been boosted with the news of its new ‘Live @ York Museums Gardens’ edition. The limited run 2CD adds a bonus disc of live tracks which were recorded at the two York shows as well as striking alternate artwork to commemorate the occasion, and is available to pre-order HERE. Other album formats include signed copies, vinyl, CD and cassette and are available to pre-order HERE.
Next up on the live schedule is a big show as guests to Blossoms and then the Radio 2 in the Park extravaganza before Shed Seven’s own touring schedule gets back underway with an extensive record store tour starting on the day ‘Liquid Gold’ is released. They then embark upon their full scale 30th anniversary headline tour in November – very limited tickets remain available HERE. But if you’ve missed out, there will be one more chance to catch Shed Seven in their 30th year. The band are planning a run of shows in October, during which they’ll play their debut album ‘Change Giver’ in full alongside a selection of their hits – expect more details of this to be confirmed soon.
