Hip-hop sensation Lil Tecca’s acclaimed new album, PLAN A

NEW YORK, NY (September 30, 2024) – Shaking the charts this week, multi-platinum sensation Lil Tecca’s acclaimed new album, PLAN A [Galactic Records/Republic Records], just bowed in the Top 10 of the Billboard 200 at number 9, tallying 42K in consumption and 110 million streams already. It notably marks his fourth Top 10 debut on the respective chart, which outperformed his last album TEC, and is his fifth consecutive Top 15 entry. Simultaneously, the LP catapulted into the Top 5 of the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums Chart at number 2, the Top 5 of the Top Rap Albums Chart at number 2 and the Top Album Sales Chart at number 5. This marks his highest charting debut since 2019’s We Love You Tecca.

It has notably incited widespread tastemaker praise too. HYPEBEAST applauded how the album “finds him stepping into a more mature bag than projects past,” and Associated Presschristened him “the rapper-producer with big aspirations and the dedication to see it through.” Billboard sat down with him for an extensive interview, and XXL promised, “Lil Tecca allows fans into his inner world in his new album.”

The 18-track opus finds Tecca firing on all cylinders, flaunting highly quotable bars and hypnotic melodies in equal measure. He links up with Don Toliver on “I CAN’T LET GO.” In betweenTecca’s nimble rhymes, Don intoxicates with an irresistible refrain, “I drink a lot of juice, I smoke a lot of smoke.” Otherworldly production brushes up against his fast-paced cadence on “120” where he goes on to promise, “I don’t fuck with y’all, that’s on my mama.” Then, there’s “Cold Girls.” He layers emotional verses over ethereal loops as he sets the scene, “Hair brand new, nails brand new, you don’t need to show it off, everybody knew.” Then, there’s “MAMA.” He pays homage to the most important person on his journey and in his life. Teeming with emotion, his voice echoes as he urges, “Stay just like this, I know you don’t give a fuck about what I make, mama.” The album concludes with “ALL THE TIME.” Bass grooves, keys dazzle, the wordplay scorches, and Tecca shines one last time on the finale.
