About The Cavemen.

Born and raised in Lagos, Nigeria, the highlife artists, The Cavemen. invented the sound of ‘Highlife Fusion’ which combines highlife, afrobeat, jazz, and soul music. The Cavemen. are pioneering the renaissance of highlife music and making it relevant to a contemporary generation that is hungry to connect to their roots. The Cavemen. consists of a sibling duo Kingsley Chukwudi Okorie and Benjamin Chukwudi James. The Cavemen. have had a strong passion for music since they were seven and eight years old. Growing up, Kingsley and Benjamin were raised in the church and exposed to various genres of music, which made them curious to learn and immerse themselves more into creating. The Cavemen. were also heavily influenced by their parents’ music taste; while listening to their parents’ playlist, they were first introduced to highlife music and fell in love. When asked how they would define “highlife music,” the brothers explained, “Highlife music is the mother genre of all genres, so every other genre drives their source and inspiration from highlife music. Highlife music to us is African music and music comes from Africa.” With musical influences such as Osita Osadebe, Oliver De Coque, Célestine Ukwu, Sir Victor Uwaifo, and Rex Lawson, The Cavemen. describes their sound as “music that heals, music that’s African, and music that is from the roots and our heritage.” Additionally, they stated that their music inspiration is divine, and “it’s given to us by our ancestors, and we pass it on to the people.”

In 2020, The Cavemen. released their debut single, “Osondu” and debut album, Roots. Two years later, the duo dropped their sophomore album, Love and Highlife which included features from Cobhams Asuquo, Made Kuti, PC Lapez, and Etuk Ubong. A year later, they were featured on Davido’s GRAMMY-nominated album, TIMELESS. In recent years, The Cavemen. have collaborated with an array of artists such as Wizkid, Asa, Ckay, Kizz Daniel, Basketmouth, Lady Donli, Flavour, and Show Dem Camp, and were featured on the tribute album for A24’s Everyone’s Getting Involved: A Tribute to Talking Heads’ Stop Making Sense. Since their debut, the duo has earned several award nominations and wins such as Best Artiste, Duo or Group in African Traditional at the 2021 Afrima Awards, Best Alternative Song at the 2021 Headies Awards, and much more.

Ultimately, The Cavemen. hope people feel freedom when they listen to their music; they want people to feel inspired to achieve anything they set their minds to. In Spring 2024, The Cavemen. wrapped on their sold-out USA tour with stops from New York to Los Angeles. Currently, The Cavemen. are gearing up to release new music this year and go on their North American tour in Spring 2025. With over 40 million worldwide streams to date, The Cavemen. continue to create music that heals, while flourishing in the Highlife music realm.
