Today, Kim Deal releases the video for ‘Big Ben Beat’, a track from her debut album Nobody Loves You More that was released in November last year. The compelling video, directed by and featuring long-time fan Richard Ayoade, also stars Kim Deal, Savages drummer Fay Milton, and Richard’s own family. Other notable credits include DOP’s Erik Wilson (who worked with Ayoade on The Double and Submarine) and Christopher Ross (Shōgun, The Swimmers), and Academy Award winning editor and frequent collaborator Chris Dickens (Slumdog Millionaire, Hot Fuzz).

“Kim Deal has few equals – the starting point of her work is genius. And then it goes up from there.”
– Richard Ayoade

Praise for Nobody Loves You More
“Glorious, life-affirming pop…one of Deal’s best ever albums” – MOJO’s Album of the Month, *****
A solo debut worth waiting for… Mellifluous pop.” – The Observer, ****

“An album that celebrates Deal’s individual brilliance.” – NME, ****

“A definitive and long-overdue solo statement from one of American rock music’s true titans.” – Rolling Stone UK
“Filled with musical and emotional twists… A statement of evolution from a fiercely independent artist in maturity.” – New York Times
“An incredible distillation of what Kim Deal does best. An architect of hard and soft, fuzzy distortion but also romance and softness.” – NPR
In keeping with Deal’s meticulous approach to her art, Nobody Loves You More was refined over several years; its oldest songs, ‘Are You Mine?’ and ‘Wish I Was’, were written and originally recorded in 2011 shortly after Deal came off the Pixies’ “Lost Cities Tour” and relocated to Los Angeles (early versions of those songs were included in a 2013 self-released five-part, ten-song seven-inch vinyl series). Along the way Deal enlisted a variety of collaborators from Breeders past and present (Mando Lopez, twin sister Kelley Deal, Jim Macpherson, Britt Walford), to Raymond McGinley (Teenage Fanclub), Jack Lawrence (Raconteurs), Savages’ Fay Milton and Ayse Hassan, and Steve Albini, who recorded much of the record. Nobody Loves You More was mixed by Marta Salogni and mastered by Heba Kadry.

Every song has a story behind it, from the winter vacations with her parents in Florida Keys (‘Summerland’), wedding band covers of ‘Margaritaville’ (‘Coast’) to her mother’s dementia (‘Are You Mine?’). All in all, the record is a celebration of Deal’s unmatched artistry, nodding not only to her career highlights with celebrated bands across the alternative landscape (Pixies, The Amps, The Breeders), but also to her immovable cultural weight influencing musicians like Kurt Cobain and Olivia Rodrigo through the generations.

Nobody Loves You More is available digitally and on CD, cassette (Bandcamp only), standard black vinyl, Florida Orange vinyl (indie retail only) and Dazzling Galaxy vinyl (4AD & artist store only). To order, head HERE.
