New York, NY (March 17, 2025) – UK indie-pop trio Autoheart return today with “Sad Divide,” the lead single from their highly anticipated fourth album Heartlands.
“We wanted to capture that feeling of trying to bridge a gap that feels impossible to cross,” says lead vocalist Jody Gadsden.
“Sad Divide” explores the emotional fractures in human connection… the paradox of being connected yet emotionally distant, showcasing the band’s unique ability to blend melancholy with euphoria, and capture things that are personal yet universal.
Channeling the sweeping soundtracks of Ennio Morricone, the haunting, ethereal harmonies of Fleetwood Mac and the poignant, synth-driven ballads of Marianne Faithfull with a nod to a certain A. Morissette—the track distills it all into something unmistakably Autoheart.
Produced by the band and mixed by longtime collaborator Danton Supple (Coldplay, Alabama 3), “Sad Divide” offers a sonic landscape that blends expansive, Americana-inspired atmospheres with the introspective depth of 90s alt-pop.
The artwork and accompanying video is Autoheart’s first collaboration with animator, illustrator and musician Alex Benson, creator of the viral Dang project which the band are fans of – more on which is to come…
Heartlands – the 4th studio album from Autoheart
“Sad Divide” introduces Heartlands, an album shaped by the band’s transformative journey across the USA during their recent sell-out tour. It’s a tribute to the landscapes they encountered along the way – neon-lit truck stops, weathered diners buzzing with late-night chatter, and the quiet stretch of highways at dawn.
But it’s the fans – the ‘Heartheads’ – that left the most lasting impression. Heartlands is a love letter to them, a reflection of America as both a real and imagined place, an emotional journey that exists as much in the creative mind as it does on the map.
Autoheart have long defied classification, fusing indie guitar hooks with low-fi disco, soaring piano ballads, and electronic landscapes. With over 3 million monthly Spotify streams and 5 million monthly YouTube views, the band has built a devoted, worldwide fanbase that thrives on their open-hearted lyricism and fiercely independent ethos. Their track “Stalker’s Tango” became a viral phenomenon in 2021, catapulting them onto global charts and earning them a cult following within the anime and cosplay communities.
“Sad Divide” follows the band’s completely sold-out 11-date U.S. tour in March 2024, proving Autoheart’s undeniable resonance across the Atlantic. The Love Me Love Me Love Me Tour cemented their reputation as a must-see live act, and with Heartlands on the horizon, they are set to build on that momentum.
A DIY Band With a Clear Vision
Proudly independent, Autoheart write, produce, and release music on their own O/R Records imprint. Their commitment to authenticity is evident not only in their music but also in their collaborations with notable creatives in the LGBTQIA+ world—which they are fiercely part of—from gender-nonconforming activist Rain Dove to award-winning queer director Joseph Wilson and UK Drag Race star Black Peppa.
With a growing list of fan-favorite tracks – amassing close to 200 million streams – Autoheart continue to push boundaries while staying true to their core message: you can find your place, no matter what anyone says.
