Dizzee Rascal and Coco join Sigma on new single “R U Sleeping”
Sigma continue to establish their independence and collaborate with the scene’s biggest names on fourth single of the year.
Sigma take dnb back to basics with Dizzee Rascal and Coco collab “R U Sleeping”.
Continuing their mission to rebuild a legacy from the ground up, Sigma step forth with a blistering collab that sees grime don Dizzee Rascal and Sheffield’s Coco join them on new single “R U Sleeping”. Released April 18th on their newly established independent label “Day Ones”, the track sees Dizzee and Coco go head-to-head, each delivering their signature bars over a dark, stripped back drum’n’bass roller that takes inspiration straight from Joe and Cam’s early days on the UK underground circuit.

With “R U Sleeping”, Sigma combine their anthemic vocal hook with the raw, underground vocals from two of the scene’s most respected artists. It’s a trend that has seen them begin the year with a series of weighty releases that cement their place within the drum’n’bass scene, following January’s “Chargie” with Scrufizzer and Jamakabi, “Chemicals” with Mali-Koa, and “Superstylin’” with Danny Byrd and Basslayerz.
“We’ve wanted to work with Diz for yearrrs. I think my first correspondence was getting passed his email about 15 years ago. I used to see him at the raves in east London, so knew he was a DnB head. Eventually, Cam bumped into him at a festival last summer, and we exchanged contacts. I messaged him, he came to the studio the week after. The track was bare bones with a hook from Coco and he loved it. He said he never actually records in the studio, likes to take the tunes away, but I eventually got him to go in and write – we were in quite late, but it was a one session job. Emerging from the major label machine after a decade of success that defined them as powerhouse producers, it was the double-edged sword of this breakneck journey under the microscope of the public eye left the pair’s original creative vision for the Sigma project somewhat blurred.
In January, they promised a complete reset, and have subsequently delivered some of the strongest music of their careers. “Day Ones” is a label and a statement of intent. Armed with the same passion that fuelled the start of this journey, the now-independent duo re-entered the studio without constraints; just a love for drum’n’bass and a commitment to enjoy the process. The results? Tracks like “R U Sleeping” which combine world-class talent like Dizzee Rascal and Coco with the duo’s underground roots, and a sincere promise that there’s plenty more where this came from.
