UK and EU Tour Begins This Month
Ten years ago, Illinois-born and Toronto-based producer, film composer, and author Meg Remy began her collaborative relationship with 4AD, starting with the release of her fifth album under the U.S. Girls moniker, 2015’s breakthrough Half Free. Today, celebrating ten years of Half Free and commemorating the evolution she has experienced over ten years with 4AD, Remy returns with a brand-new U.S. Girls two-track project entitled ‘Running Errands (Yesterday)’ b/w ‘Running Errands (Today)’.

This forthcoming leg follows a lengthy tour throughout the US earlier this year (including a date opening for King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard in Queens, NY this summer), as well as a run of Canadian dates on which Remy was joined by a special Canadian band. Originally from Illinois, Meg Remy is established as one of the most acclaimed songwriters to emerge from Toronto’s eclectic underground music scene where she currently lives. As the creative force behind the musical entity U.S. Girls, her celebrated decades-long discography includes three Polaris Prize shortlisted and Juno-nominated albums on 4AD: Half Free (2015), In A Poem Unlimited (2018), Heavy Light (2020), as well as Bless This Mess (2023) and live compilation Lives (2023). Remy has exhibited collage work and directed several music videos and other video art works including her short film Woman’s Advocate (2014). She published her first book, a memoir called Begin By Telling (2021) and is working on a follow-up. Recently Remy has turned film composer, scoring Grace Glowicki’s horror comedy Dead Lover which premiered at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival. Her producer credits include Bria Salmena’s Big Dog (2025, Sub Pop). As a platform and persona, U.S. Girls operates on a uniquely out-of-time wavelength, alternately wronged and rueful, classic but contemporary, bruised vignettes of poetic Americana through a feminist lens.
“Over and over, listen after listen and Half Free just plain sends. Mastermind Meg Remy’s first album for the vaunted 4AD label is bursting with vivid, cracked imagination and cool mastery of slippery pop allure.”
Tiny Mix Tapes 5*
“This is the unmistakable sound of a star being born: this is an album with something to say, in a voice all of its own.”
NME
“Even as its backdrop mutates from deep-house throbs to psych-rock guitar solos, Half Free always focuses your attention to where it should be: on Remy’s radiant voice and vivid storytelling.”
Pitchfork
“With Half Free, Remy has made a brilliant, accessible, edgy pop record without compromising her ideals one iota–and hopefully has surreptitiously brought her into a wider light.”
The Quietus
“A damaged pop nightmare and one of the best albums of the year.”
