Baroness: Listen To ‘Cocainium’ From ‘Live at Maida Vale’

WithGuitars readers will be no strangers to Baroness, but just a reminder and taste of Baroness record session in the famous BBC Studios.

It’s a year on from the American metal bands brilliant and inspired double album ‘Yellow and Green’ as well as their unfortunate crash on tour in which two of the band, Matt Maggioni and Allen Blickle were left seriously injured and have since left the band. Two weeks prior to the crash, the band had recorded 4 tracks from the ‘Yellow and Green’ album at the BBC’s legendary Maida Vale Studio’s and a year on this record finally gets the release it deserves.

Maida Vale sessions usually mark a high point for a band, which barring the circumstances surround the time period; the recording captures the band at their very, very best. The tracks are as powerful as ever for Baroness and yet refreshingly soulful with the significance placed thoroughly on musicality. The historic studios provide the perfect setting for arguably the metal bands greatest work to date.
