Today, 5th November, Irish alternative rapper and singer KhakiKid further cements his reputation as one of the most distinctive and exciting voices in the scene with the release of his new single, ‘Moved On’. Produced by award-winning London born producer Louis Stanley Isaac, ‘Moved On’ marks a return to KhakiKid’s signature blend of soulful, funk-infused, and laid-back sounds that have resonated with audiences across Ireland and beyond. Effortlessly merging playful lyricism with genre-blurring production that glides between rap, R&B, and indie influences, the track showcases KhakiKid’s dynamic approach to music, shifting seamlessly from uptempo bars to an irresistibly catchy chorus. At the heart of KhakiKid’s music lies his storytelling: unfiltered, humorous, and deeply relatable. With a knack for capturing life’s everyday highs and lows through charm and authenticity, he continues to prove himself as one of the most compelling artists on the rise. Fans can expect ‘Moved On’ to be a highlight of KhakiKid’s upcoming headline show at the 3Olympia Theatre in Dublin on 27th November.

Born and raised in Dublin, KhakiKid — real name Abdu — began writing raps at the age of 12, inspired by the raw storytelling of Eminem and 50 Cent, and the groundbreaking grime and rap music videos of Channel U. Over the years, he has crafted a sound entirely his own, offbeat, emotionally resonant, and infused with influences from Tyler, The Creator, Mac Miller, and Irish peers such as Bricknasty and Kojaque. Known for his inventive wordplay, and hands-on creative approach, KhakiKid not only writes and records his own material but also directs and edits his music videos. Themes of identity, belonging, and heritage play a central role in his work. Having grown up on a council estate in Dublin and spoken openly about living with ADHD and reconnecting with his Arab-Irish roots, KhakiKid brings a refreshing authenticity and emotional depth to his music. His live performances have become a hallmark of his artistry, energetic, heartfelt, and magnetic. Recent highlights include a performance on the Electric Arena Stage at Electric Picnic (12,000 capacity) and appearances at the Guinness Cork Jazz Festival, sharing the bill with Maverick Sabre, Aby Coulibaly, and Rejjie Snow amongst others. KhakiKid’s rise has been meteoric: he’s a Spotify RADAR: First Listen artist, hes amassed over 25 million streams, gained 100,000 new online followers in just four months, and received high-profile co-signs from Lola Young and Jessie Reyez. Media acclaim followed, with features in NME (100 Essential Artists) and Dazed, who hailed him as One to Watch for 2025.

The release of ‘Moved On’ follows KhakiKid’s recent collaboration with duo Aki Oke, ‘DONT TOUCH THE CDJ’, a garage-inspired, genre-defying anthem that he performed on DJ AGs platform and showcased his fearless approach to experimentation. Earlier this year, he dropped his acclaimed EP ‘Moanbag’, a bold and introspective collection that included the soulful breakout single ‘Date Nite’, performed live on The Late Late Show, and the infectious hit, ‘Germ’. KhakiKid’s creative journey has also seen him collaborate with Bricknasty, SOFY, Saint Demarcus, and join Jameson’s Distilled Sounds initiative, led by global icon Anderson .Paak, bridging Ireland’s grassroots music scene with international audiences. Now, with ‘Moved On’, KhakiKid opens yet another exciting chapter, one that looks set to reach new heights with his upcoming headline show at Dublin’s iconic 3Olympia Theatre. Raw, likeable, and unapologetically original, KhakiKid continues to redefine what Irish rap can be and he’s only getting started.
