Drawing from a wide-ranging palette of influences including funk., soul and electronica, ‘Strawberry Kisses’ feels like a certified disco-anthem for the new school. What sets Amber apart from the pack is her dulcet vocal tones, which nods back to the golden age of soul. The colourful supporting visual sees Amber trying to control the feelings she has when accidentally bumping into her Ex in the supermarket, an ex she clearly isn’t ready to let go of. A dreamlike sequence is what follows and sees Amber break into dance moves inspired by the infectious melody.

Having been singing since she was 16, 21-year-old Amber’s vocal sound is unique and powerful, citing Millie Womack and Michael Jackson among her influences. Growing up in east London and then moving to Hertfordshire in her early teens, Amber listened to funk and soul music throughout her childhood, a sound which has very much impacted her own music, along with her discovery of indie electronica, artists such as Niki and the Dove or Metronomy, and 80’s film scores. In addition to her own material, Amber’s had a writing cut on the Aquilo album as well as writing with the likes of Shy Luv, Franc Moody, Phairo and Joe Hertz. Her previous singles ‘Trashed My Heart’, ‘Mountains’ and ‘Taught Me Better’ were both supported by the likes of DJ Target and Twin B at 1xtra and received the accolades of New Music Friday and Best of the Week at Spotify and Apple, respectively.
‘Strawberry Kisses’ feels like the perfect jam to chase away the impending winter blues and heralds the news of an EP due early 2019. With an array of feel-good, infectious and uplifting tracks under her belt, her debut live show and EP set for early 2019, make way for Amber-Simone.
