Ja Ja Ja is delighted to announce the final programme for Ja Ja Ja Festival, an evolution of the much-loved monthly club night into a major festival of Nordic music, film and food.
The festival takes place on 8th and 9th November at Camden’s iconic The Roundhouse and features performances from 17 of the hottest bands in Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden. Artists on the bill include Mew, The Raveonettes, múm, NONONO, LCMDF, Husky Rescue, Postiljonen, Sin Fang and Truls, DJ sets from the likes of Annie and Huw Stephens, and a day of rarely-screened music documentaries courtesy of CPHDOX: Copenhagen International Documentary Film Festival.

Now added to this line-up is a Nordic record label market, an extensive food programme, appearances by film directors and art exhibits from members of múm and Sin Fang.
Programmed by Bella Union’s Simon Raymonde, a long-time champion of Nordic music and one of the Ja Ja Ja club night’s original curators, the Ja Ja Ja Record Label Market will take place on the Saturday afternoon from 2pm.
The independent record labels invited by Simon will include Soliti (Finland), Bedroom Community (Iceland), Jansen Plateproduksjon (Norway) and Adrian Recordings (Sweden). All will be selling vinyl, CDs, rarities and limited editions, while Simon himself will be DJ-ing.
Commenting on his involvement, Simon said: “I am excited to support this Ja Ja Ja event for a number of reasons. Yes, Bella Union has released a number of Scandinavian artists over the years, and I am a frequent visitor to Nordic shores but more than that, I have to say that there is an extraordinary wealth of exceptional talent across the countries. I curated one of the very early JaJaJa nights at the Lexington a few years ago and it’s my pleasure to continue the relationship with such good people.”
Nordic music lovers will be well familiar with the popular Ja Ja Ja club night, which since 2009 has established itself as London’s premier destination for the very best new Nordic music. The Ja Ja Ja Festival has been developed in joint collaboration with The Roundhouse, and is supported by the Nordic Embassies in London and the Nordic Culture Fund.
Festival-goers perusing the label stands can also enjoy mouthwatering Nordic food, music documentaries and visual art.
Supported by New Nordic Food, the innovative cuisine on offer will include Brick Lane’s favourite Swedish restaurant, Fika Bar & Kitchen, who will be serving coffee and a range of mouth-watering treats, including their famed Kladdkaka and Choklad Boll, a pop-up stall from Tommi’s Burger Joint and a seasonal Nordic menu designed by Swedish chef Herman Rasmuson in collaboration with Made in Camden head chef Jean-Baptiste Barbosa. Expect crispbread pizza, slow-braised stews, cloudberries, cardamon ice cream and skyr.
Also part of the food programme is Nordic Sound Bite. Curated by Nikolaj Danielsen, this collaboration will see five of the acts (Mew, NONONO, Sin Fang, Kid Astray and Sakaris) have their ‘musical DNA’ distilled into an edible form by Nordic food artists. These ‘sound bites’ will be distributed during the band’s performances, allowing fans to discover what their music tastes like.
As an addition to the music documentary screenings, we are also delighted to announce that viewers will be joined by directors of ‘The Ghost Of Piramida’ and ‘The Punk Syndrome’; while festival-goers will also enjoy theartwork of Sindri Már Sigfússon (Sin Fang) and Örvar Smárason (múm) from their acclaimed Apfelsin Bros Picture Book.
