Brooklyn trio Raccoon Fighter released their debut LP, ZIL, last month via Papercup Music. Since then, they’ve turned heads with their bluesy brand of rock ‘n’ roll, which has been compared to that of the Black Lips and Diamond Rugs (FILTER) and suggested to “soundtrack the final season of Breaking Bad” (NYLON.) Today, the band shares their eccentric video for “Wolf At Your Window,” complete with a mad scientist & his transmogrifier gun, an astronaut guitarist, and a science experiment gone awry. Made 100% with found objects– including the Sony 8mm Handycam that was used to film the video.
ZIL showcases Raccoon Fighter’s punk and psych-rock tendencies with raw, in-your-face vocals, fuzzy guitars, and buzzing bass. For the record, no raccoons were harmed in the making of the album– in fact, the band has had to explain their name many, many times: “We met this guy at one of our shows while we were playing under an alias and he told us he was having problems with a raccoon that was tearing up his mom’s garden. He shot and killed that raccoon, and we named our band after him.”
If you’re in NYC, you can catch Raccoon Fighter live next month at Glasslands.
