Undercover festival 2014: FIRST HEADLINE ACT ANNOUNCED!!
THE MEN THEY COULDNT HANG TO PLAY UNDERCOVER FESTIVAL IN THEIR 30th ANNIVERSARY YEAR
19th / 20th / 21st Sept 2014
Ranging from renowned performers and a lot of promising local / national talent
Punk, Ska, Northern, Indie, Alternative, Retro & Acoustic + all at a bargain price; what more can you ask for?
For the Saturday we have decided to have 4 joint headline bands for the main stage as we could not turn any of them down so we thought “Why Not” for various reasons we are not able to announce 3 of them yet.
BUT we are pleased to be able to announce The Men They Couldn’t Hang as one of Saturdays BIG FOUR.
2014 will be The Men They Couldn’t Hang’s 30th anniversary!
That’s a long time since ‘Green Fields of France’, their epic debut recording, went to number 1 in the Independent Music Chart. It’s also 30 years since the Miner’s strike; encapsulated so poignantly in the band’s elegy ‘Shirt of Blue’ – a song the band still play today, its meaning always subtly shifting with the times…
With the exception of a long list of drummers, the line-up has remained the same since 1986 – Phil ‘Swill’ Odgers, Stefan Cush, Paul Simmonds and Ricky McGuire. With the addition of Tom Spencer on banjo/guitar and Nick Sputnik on drums and washboard, the current TMTCH is complete.
The Main Stage on the Saturday sees Punk Legends 999 back at Undercover Festival , The return to the scene of the post-punk legends DEPARTMENT S who brought you the classic – Is Vic There? along with The Talks rising stars in the Ska world PLUS a plethora of cracking acts make this a mouth watering Saturday line up, and that’s without announcing the 3 other Saturday headline acts and several others soon to be announced.
All Other Headline acts and TBAs will be announced shortly…
We are pleased to announce the line up so far for Saturday 20th September as
