Richard X ft. Jarvis Cocker – Into U (Virgin)

Coming from one of the most criminally underrated albums of last year (that’s what you get for socialising with Liberty X), this has all the hallmarks of a delayed Christmas single – sleigh bells, chiming and bittersweet sentiment. Backboned  with the vocal from Mazzy Star, “fade into you” – it’s a completely believable duet. You can almost visualise Hope Sandoval and Jarvis, shoulder to shoulder at the mic staring into each others eyes. A close contender for single of the moth, but ultimately I’ve ended up doing what everyone else has done to Richard X, doffed my cap, then shouldered  him out of the way. Don’t do the same. This is truly gorgeous. 8.8/10
