Hippo Campus are four Minnesotan boys, yet to hit legal drinking age making music that is infectious, joyful, and thematically soaked with the sense of cynicism accompanying the youthful search of self-meaning. On ‘South’ Hippo Campus delve deeper into their transcending journey into adulthood and the playful elasticity of singer Jake Luppen’s voice amplifies the bands bright, optimistic, and emotionally resonant sound.
At this years SXSW, Hippo Campus created such a buzz that they wrapped up their week playing ‘Suicide Saturday’ from their debut EP ‘Bashful Creatures’ on Conan O’Brien’s show CONAN. ‘Suicide Saturday’ was made Huw Stephen’s ‘Record Of The Week’ and was supported by numerous other BBC Radio 1 and 6Music DJs. Since then they’ve toured relentlessly opening for big-name acts like Modest Mouse, Real Estate and My Morning Jacket as well as performing at The Great Escape. Hippo Campus will return to the UK in August to perform at Reading & Leeds festival plus news of an intimate invite only coming soon.
