CLEAN CUT KID ANNOUNCE NEW SINGLE ‘RUNAWAY’

Clean Cut Kid have announced details of their new single. “Runaway” will be released digitally on September 3rd through the band’s own Babe Magnet Records/Polydor. It’s the follow-up to their indelible debut “Vitamin C”. Mike Halls, Evelyn Halls, Saul Godman and Ross Higginson are a quartet from Liverpool who make inventive and exhilarating art-pop, described as “soulful pop ballads, washed in Mersey water.”
“Runaway” is a thumping four-minute anthem with one of the choruses of the summer at its centre. Like “Vitamin C”, it is the product of countless days and nights spent at the band’s practice space in Liverpool. It’s not a song built to be held by four walls: Clean Cut Kid make intimate sound epic and melancholy sound euphoric. It was self-produced by the band and mixed by Mark Spike Stent.
Describing the inspiration for ‘Runaway’, Mike writes: “I wrote ‘Runaway’ about an hour after I’d spent the last tenner, of the last instalment, of my final year student loan. It’s a song about feeling beaten before you’ve even started the race, and that moment when you realise that there are just some things you’ll never escape.”
The four-piece appeared at a number of festivals over the summer including Latitude, Secret Garden Party and Somersault. They also headlined the Introducing stage at Reading and Leeds. They will support Shura at Brixton Electric in September before embarking on a short UK tour including Brixton Academy with Circa Waves in October. An early addition to the In New Music We Trust playlist, “Vitamin C” received widespread radio support and was championed by Annie Mac, Huw Stephens, Steve Lamacq and Lauren Laverne. A seven-inch version of “Runaway” will be released on impact date October 23rd, backed with b-side “Jean”.
