MISE EN ABYME OUT APRIL 20 VIA ROYAL POTATO FAMILY

“The hippest pop band you’ve ever heard in your life”
Richard Gehr, The Village Voice
“Attention fans of Jon Brion and Badly Drawn Boy, you will dig ‘Mise En Abyme’”

New York, NY (April 3, 2018) – Brooklyn’s A Big Yes and a small no will release Mise En Abyme on April 20 via Royal Potato Family. The album is an existential appreciation of life, addiction, mortality and acceptance and today, the Brooklyn quintet debuts the video for Enough Is Enough at PopMatters. Shot on the same Windsor Terrace block as the Paul Auster/Wayne Wang indie gem Smoke, the video echoes a verse from the song that parallels the movie, “Brooklyn Forever…at least until I’m priced out.”
Frontman Kevin Kendrick elaborates on the treatment, “We decided to shoot it as one long take from flower shop to heartbreak to capture the way time seems to slow down when you’re anxiously trying to catch someone and convince them that THIS time things will be better, before they disappear out of your life forever. We almost did wine instead of flowers, and I was going to open it and start drinking when I walked away, but I decided on flowers because I love the symbolism.  Flowers are already doomed when you buy them.  Like me in the video, their fate is sealed!”

The quintet ar on the road this spring with the sought after original lineup of the band consisting of drummer Joe Russo (Cass McCombs, Joe Russo’s Almost Dead), keyboardist Erik Deutsch (Shooter Jennings), guitarist Jonathan Goldberger (Red Baraat, Jim Black’s Bagatelles Quartet) and bassist Jonti Siman (Surface to Air).
