Afro-House frontrunner AMÉMÉ’s homecoming set from Boiler Room

LAGOS, NIGERIA | West African-born afro-house pioneer AMÉMÉ’s landmark Boiler Room: Lagos performance is streaming now on Boiler Room TV and Boiler Room’s YouTubechannel. The highly anticipated release captures the Benin-born artist’s emotional homecoming to West African soil.

Filmed on April 26th in partnership with local Nigerian collective Group Therapy, the set showcases AMÉMÉ’s signature “AMÉMÉ House” sound alongside impressive African talent including Aniko, Deji, IMJ, Sigag Lauren, SoundsofAce, and WeAreAllChemicals B2B Yosa. For the artist born Hubert Sodogandji, performing in Lagos represented a powerful full-circle moment, bringing the sounds that have influenced dance floors worldwide back to their continental roots.

“Playing in Africa is my way of leading by example,” AMÉMÉ shares. “I can’t tell you how emotional I was when I saw my mom’s face when I told her I was going to play Lagos.”

The Lagos performance arrives amid what has been a landmark 2025 for AMÉMÉ, including his sophomore return to Coachella, major releases on Insomniac Records including “Sweat” featuring GRAMMY-nominated Barney Bones, and “Feel The Love” with andhim and Malou(538k streams in less than a month). The artist recently completed 2 sets at EDC Las Vegas, further cementing his position as a leading voice in afro-house’s global expansion.

The timing proves particularly significant as afro-house continues its meteoric rise in mainstream music culture. The genre has climbed from 23rd to 4th most searched on Beatport in recent years, marked by watershed moments including Black Coffee’s GRAMMY win and influential collectives like Keinemusik bringing afro-house elements to stadium-sized audiences worldwide.

“Taking the sounds that have been influenced and heard all over the world ‘back to the continent‘” exemplifies AMÉMÉ’s commitment to maintaining authenticity and integrity in afro-stories, by afro-artists, for a global audience. Since relaunching One Tribe’s signature event series in 2024, AMÉMÉ has hosted successful showcases at fabric London, established a quarterly residency at Amsterdam’s Shelter, and expanded to Ibiza, Egypt, and Art Basel Miami.
