‘Long Live Heavy Metal’

3-Inches-of-Blood-promo-1dWith a name such as 3 Inches of Blood and an album title such as Long Live Heavy Metal it isn’t difficult to guess what genre of music this band fall into. It’s the heavy metal genre silly.
I was first introduced to this band back in 2003 when they supported The Darkness when I was fifteen years old and to be honest I hadn’t heard much from them since apart from catching pieces of their sets at festivals over the years. I’m a bit pissed I didn’t keep my eye on these Canadian metallers if I’m honest.
With their fifth album Long Live Heavy Metal to be unleashed onto the public on March 26th 2012 3 Inches of Blood have definitely taken off the gloves. From start to finish this is a heavy metal fans audio wet dream. Songs such as Dark Messenger and Leave It on the Ice are perfectly delivered metal masterpieces.
The title is cliché, the sound may also be cliché but who gives a damn when it’s this good quality. Anthem like choruses delivered with screeching vocals and a powerful riff followed by a face melting solo is exactly what a traditional heavy metal fan wants from an album.
There is no posing on this album it is pure metal through and through. This band deserves to be much bigger in the metal scene than they currently are. If you like bands such as Iron Maiden, Skeletonwitch and Warbringer then this release from the Canadian five piece will be right at home with the rest of your CD’s. 7/10
