One of the A-list bands from the original anarcho-punk scene The Disrupters released four singles and two albums before splitting in the late 80s. They’re probably best remembered for the excellent but rudimentary ‘Young Offender’ 7”.

A retrospective compilation and the opportunity to support Steve Ignorant saw them reform in 2007 and four years later we have an album of new material, their first for 25 years.

Lyrically this album continues on from the old anarcho scene although it’s openly for criticised in ‘Khao San Road’, multinationals and big business are still the targets, the old favourite anti-religion pops up and even Ian Huntley gets a pasting.

What has moved on is the music. Yes it’s still pretty basic but it’s hard punk with a rock element, slower and more mid-paced than is the current fashion and couldn’t be further removed from what the younger anarcho bands are doing. It won’t win them any new converts but it’s sure to be well received by existing fans who won’t be disappointed. 7.2/10
