•• Don’t Look Away album release show
Following the news of his forthcoming solo record Don’t Look Away, due out on the 24 August, Alexander Tucker has announced a string of European shows for this summer and autumn. The tour includes an album release show at the Shacklewell Arms in London on 5 September, with a line up chosen by Tucker
In a live setting, Tucker’s compositions take on beguiling new forms. Resampling the original recordings for the foundation, he weaves dense soundscapes from loops, utilising electronics and processed cello patterns alongside live instrumentation.
Continuing to carve out a space as one of Britain’s most forward-thinking songwriters, on Don’t Look Away Alexander Tucker contrasts traditional song structure with experimental collage and rich orchestral arrangements. Featuring guest appearances from Nik Void (Carter Tutti Void, Factory Floor) on vocals and Daniel O’Sullivan on viola, the album emerged during a particularly prolific creative period for Tucker that saw him composing for the Schauspielhaus Zürich in Switzerland, and establishing UNDIMENSIONED, his own independent publishing imprint. As a result, Tucker’s wider work feels more present here than on previous recordings and this shows itself often in the lyrics, which range from relationships, including the uncomfortable ones we often have with ourselves, to sci-fi imagery and cosmic horror.
