From Saxony, Germany, Alpha Tiger release this eponymous set on the back of the recent 3rd outing iDentity, and this fourth album follows on nicely. Melodic power metal with nods to NWoBHM, a twin guitar thrash-out with some intricate keyboards that augment nicely. In fact they help add a nod to prog metal in places.

New vocalist Benjamin Jaino had a baptism of fire, coming in to replace the original vocalist up the release of iDentity, and has quickly found his place. His power and range suit the band well.

Road To Vega is a good intro, and the blistering Comatose is just all-out power metal with melody and passion. The intro to Feather In The Wind nods to Eloy, before the band come in and rock the grooves, it is a power prog metal ballad, a lovely track.

Aurora sees some great guitar work, some chunky grooves and neat solo work over the top. The guitar is a little jangly in If The Sun Refused To Shine, a 90s nod, there’s some good sounds here.

Definitely worth seeking out.

7.5 / 10
