“towering vocal harmonies and a sly bass groove, showcases the band’s new sound opting for a “less is more”” – The Line of Best Fit

London duo Alpines set off on their first extensive headline tour in the UK and Europe next week following the release of sophomore album Another River on Metropolis Recordings.

In their latest sophomore LP Another River Alpines capture a breathlessly elegant and honest single vision. Their exemplary journey, which has seen the pair overcome some pretty tricky hurdles over the past few years (detailed in their chat with Noisey late last year), illustrates to young artists everywhere just what can be accomplished with an abundance of hard work, belief, and an uncompromising attitude. Next week they embark on their first ever extensive headline tour, heading up and down the nation before crossing the channel to play in Paris, Amsterdam and Berlin among others.

Playing these cities for the first time gives the pair the chance to meet their continental fanbase, some of whom have supported since the early days. “This is the first time we have toured across Europe so it is going to be an important step for us and one we are very excited about.”

Released at the end of last year, Another River sees the pair combining futurist production and R&B melodies into dazzling soundscapes, each thrumming with a life of its own. Masters in creating cerebral and inventive music without compromising on the simple unabashed joy of melody, Bob Matthews and Catherine Pockson have achieved an album that stands as an authentic and emotive outpouring that will resonate with people everywhere.

The duo explain; “we have not been so concerned with making the live show sound exactly like the album, so people can expect something a bit different from the live experience. It should hopefully have a lot of energy and an element of unpredictability.”
