The de-facto founders of the gipsy punk movement, Seattle’s Kultur Shock, mixes Balkan folk melodies and bizarre meters with face melting metal and blood pumping punk rock in a pagan cauldron of lyrical, obnoxious, and politically irreverent music stew since 1996.
The 7” debut of the band on Alternative Tentacles contains King and Country Mohammed, which have been a part of band’s live set since their release on Kultur Shock’s Integration (2009) record. A vinyl LP version of band’s DREAM (2019) album is set for release in spring 2023.

The Darts formed in 2016 with the goal of bringing four top female garage musicians together to make gaRAGEpunk rock, see the world, and basically have the best possible slumber party every night. They are now hands-down one of THEE best garage bands in the world.Snake Oil, released March 17, 2023, on Jello Biafra’s Alternative Tentacles Records, offers 13 tracks of agile vocals, a beefy vintage rhythm section, and razor-tone guitars, plus a hidden track featuring a spoken-word performance by Biafra himself. Frontwoman Nicole Laurenne originally wrote over 30 songs during the long, dark pandemic and then worked directly with Biafra to whittle and edit. Biafra then worked closely with producer Bob Hoag at Flying Blanket Recording in Mesa, Arizona, to capture the magic. The result? Snake Oil comes out smoking, as if this band has been in a pressure cooker waiting to explode.

Snake Oil sounds wider and fuller than past albums, but still showcases that bold Dart sparkle and raunch. Christina Nunez’s signature fuzz-drenched bass tones and Meliza Jackson’s heavily-distorted twang guitar riffs anchor the tracks, and the album introduces the punk-infused drumming of Mary Rose Gonzales. Laurenne tops off the sound with swirling layers of Farfisa and hammond organ, along with her sexy/fatal gravel-tinged alto vocals. The album contains some of the most epic ballads the band has ever created, including “You Just Love Yourself” and “Bring It Back.”

Fronted by KALYN ROSE HEFFERNAN – a wheelchair using, profanely queer and tiny rapper, with a very distinct high-pitched sense of humor. This noisey experiment was birthed by the DIY, combining beats with shredding face live. Playing shows in every place they could, the band has since stretched into theatre, performance art, public television, politics, prison tours, permanent installations, and who knows what’s next….
