greetings from summery upstate new york…where i am holing up for about a month to write, clean, dig out, and prepare myself for long recording & touring roads ahead. neil is in london working on editing his good omens TV series for the BBC. we are both pretty whelmed.

between being in ireland for the abortion referendum and then spending a few days in a prison this past weekend, listening to inmates’ stories and learning about restorative justice, the last month has been soul-ripping and life-changing. i’m trying to synthesize all of this into art, but at the moment i’m doing a good ol’ fashioned collapsing routine because I AM TIRED DARLING. please join the patreon to keep up with my free-style writing and blogging, it’s been really inspiring times, and the patreon is keeping me afloat not just financially but emotionally. it’s a damn magical group of people, and if you’re one of them, i’m really grateful lately. it’s making life so much easier and so much more real art possible.

the recording was inspired by maria “brain pickings” popova’s request that we cover the tune at her “universe in verse” event at pioneer works in brooklyn, where we rehearsed and played it live (one performance only). she writes about the whole thing on her website HERE.

as usual, this recording and the musicians & engineers time and energy was funded/made possible by the amazing patrons (we are over 11,000 strong now!!!!)

all digital sales (from iTunes, bandcamp, etc) go to benefit the national resource defense council, because we can’t afford to lose anymore paradise to parking lots.
