ANE BRUN has announced details of arguably her most intimate single to date in her brand new single, Lose My Way‘ released by her label, Balloon Ranger Recordings.

Written with Dustin O’Halloran, an American Oscar-nominated, Emmy Award-winning composer (also member of A Winged Victory For The Sullen), Lose My Way is the seventh taste of her as-yet-untitled eighth studio album, which will represent her first of original material since 2015’s acclaimed When I’m Free. Due in stores this autumn.

It will follow 2017’s exquisite collection of cover versions, Leave Me Breathless.Stream the single online, here. “Dustin and I decided to try to co-write in Dustin’s studio on a very warm Berlin night back in 2016.

We had just become friends and I had been a longtime fan of Dustin’s music,” explains Ane. “When we met, it was only a few weeks since my father had passed away, so I was in a very special, vulnerable state of mind. We had a glass of wine and improvised our way to this song, which was finished the same night, with words coming out of me like a message to my father. The next day we recorded the version that’s on the album. We have both loved this song from the day we created it, and are so grateful to finally release it.”

The final version you hear today also features Gyða Valtýsdóttir (member of Icelandic band Múm) later adding cello to the mix, and Klas-Henrik Hörngren (Klabbes Bank) also laid down some understated synth sounds.  “In 2018, Dustin and I also co-wrote and released the song ‘Horizons’, the closing theme for the 2018 movie Puzzle, which I performed at the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony in Oslo 2019,” adds Brun.

Lose My Way follows the ethereal, pulsing, electronic single, Take Hold of Me, the upbeat, Honey, the serene Song for Thrill and Tom, Feeling Like I Wanna Cry released in April and cathartic lullaby, Trust that was released in March, as Ane releases a song per month during lockdown. All songs taken from her new album this Autumn that will be announced very soon.
