Title track “As Animals” Stream Premieres w/ Ladygunn
“…what little we have heard from the pair has been steeped in the languid pop of the late 80′s and the vibrant, densely colored indie rock of bands like Arcade Fire and The National.” – Beats Per Minute
French duo As Animals will release their self-titled debut LP on March 3rd via Atmosphériques. They’ve already shared an early taste of the record with their gritty “I See Ghost (Ghost Gunfighters)” video, and today, the band has released second album track “As Animals,” which features lead singer Zara Desbonnes’ powerful vocals and an explosive chorus accompanied by tribal beats. You can stream “As Animals” where it premiered with Ladygunn, and is available to stream / share below
As Animals is multi-instrumentalist Frédéric Grange and singer/songwriter Zara Desbonnes, who came together over their deeply-rooted love of music. While Fred takes the lead on instrumentals and Zara tackles lyrics, everything the band creates is a collaborative effort. Classically trained on guitar & piano and now versed in bass, keyboard and drums, Fred’s playing has been shaped by the likes of Metallica, Iron Maiden, Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd, while Zara found her voice when she first discovered powerful female vocalists like Cyndi Lauper.
Inspired by everyone from Bjork & The Knife to Feist & Fiona Apple– along with the aesthetics of Kubrick, Terry Gilliam and Oliver Stone– As Animals’ songs are full of pop hooks and stick-in-your-head choruses, but have a certain edginess to them. Stay tuned for more new music from the duo, coming soon!
