“raucous and bold journey into slacker territory, with snarling vocals and crashing guitar.” Wonderland
Guildford-based singer-songwriter Annabel Allum continues her reinvention as one of the most vital, snarling and sarcastic voices in the indie scene with latest single ‘Eat Greens’, taken from a forthcoming summer EP. Expanding from her folk roots into fuzzier-slacker territory, Allum affirms her statement of intent with more blistering riffs and frenetic vocals on display throughout the attitude-filled new track.
Following the release of her debut single ‘Tricks’ in July 2016, the songstress received early support from the online community and airplay on the likes of BBC 6 Music and Radio X, whilst her original look and self-styling has already lead to endorsements from Bastian Classics, Cheap Monday and various other indie clothing brands.
Recent single ‘Rich Backgrounds’ took further hold of tastemaker attention, providing a platform from which she delivered several highly acclaimed SXSW sets this March.
Having supported acts including Big Deal and Blaenavon over the past twelve months, as Annabel’s live reputation continues to grow she will be taking in the UK’s premiere new music festivals in Live at Leeds and The Great Escape over the coming months.
Expressing the meaning behind ‘Eat Greens’ Annabel explains “’Eat Greens’ is a song about the conflict of doing what you feel is right and what you think is wrong. Doing what you want as opposed to doing what you need. Finding balance, searching for balance, what is balance? Self destruction and self love. Vegetables.”
Produced by Adrian Hall (Goldfrapp, Du Blonde, Anna Calvi) Annabel Allum’s ‘Eat Greens’ is released on 28th April via her own imprint label of Killing Moon Records and will be available on iTunes and Spotify.
