Arcite – ‘We Lie Awake’

Arcite – ‘We Lie Awake’

This five track EP by Newcastle based band Arcite is proof of one thing. That thing being that decent live music in this part of country is not dead and gone. It is proof that if you look past all the middle of the road indie bands who play the same old same old tunes that people are sick of hearing you can find a band that are daring and more than willing to create some f*cking intense music.
I’ve had the pleasure of seeing these guys twice in the past year and they are a force to be reckoned with on stage but this is a CD review not a live review. High intensity riffs, a double bass pedal that doesn’t let up as well as a scream that could wake the dead. On these five tracks the boys in Arcite mean business.
As well as intensity the musical diversity shows a maturity to this band beyond the years of themselves as well as a lot of their peers on the north east circuit. Yes, it is metal through and through but by having break downs in the exact spots where they are needed (no one likes a band that don’t do anything but break downs) as well as the exceptional production value puts Arcite at the top of the leader board on the north east metal circuit.
If you like bands such as All That Remains, Killswitch Engage, Parkway Drive and Bring Me The Horizon then these guys will defiantly tickle your pickle. 8/10
