Aretha Franklin Cancels Michigan Concert for Medical Treatment

Aretha Franklin has cancelled an upcoming concert near Detroit as she recovers from ongoing health issues. She was forced to clear her tour schedule in June in order to undergo medical treatment.

According to Reuters, the 71-year-old singer wrote in an open letter to her fans that a “miscalculation” of the end of her treatments was behind the latest cancellation. “It would be totally disruptive to stop them now and go into concert with total success right at the door,” she wrote.

The July 27th concert at the DTE Engery Pine Knob Theater in Clarkston, Michigan, had already been postponed from its original date in June, while other dates in Chicago, Connecticut, Ottowa and Montreal have not been rescheduled.

“Aretha fully intends to get back to her full schedule of work as soon as she can,” Franklin’s publicist said. WithGuitars wish Aretha our collective best as we are sure everyone out there does.
