BAD FOR LAZARUS ft. The Duke Spirit [VIDEO]
BAD FOR LAZARUS
– 7 Minute Itch –
Featuring Liela Moss (From The Duke Spirit & Roman Remains)
Single Release + Music Video
Release Date: 16th March 2015 | Label: 1-2-3-4 Records
Bad For Lazarus bring a new dimension to their ‘MoTown Punk Rock n Roll’ by enlisting the spine tingling vocal skills of The Duke Spirit’s Liela Moss on new single ‘7 Minute Itch’ and accompanying video.
Bad for Lazarus features ex-members of The Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster, UNKLE and NIN. As a result it will not come as a great surprise that Bad For Lazarus rip it up live! It’s onstage where the band prove to the masses they are the ‘real deal’ and that becomes central to new single ‘7 Minute Itch’.
Taken from their debut album ‘Life’s A Carnival, Bang! Bang! Bang!’ released on 1-2-3-4 Records last year, ‘7 Minute Itch’ is a tale of a crazed ex girlfriend. This may sound like one of those awful clichés but the lady in question here is quite something as Rich Fownes from the band describes;
“We have a rule in the band that we don’t touch lyrical clichés . A song about a turbulent girlfriend would usually top that list… but what I experienced was a little out of the ordinary. I don’t know why she wanted me to be there so much, except to berate and control me, but the aforementioned nutcase kept me around with constant suicide threats if I looked like I was leaving for the night. When I finally broke free and called her bluff I got 150 (no joke) texts a day. They ranged from waffling apologies to fierce and direct threats on my life.”

To get to the very essence of this story, Bad For Lazarus felt the song needed a female lead vocal so they enlisted the skills of close friend Liela Moss from The Duke Spirit and Roman Remains. Adding Liela’s spine tingling vocals to the band’s self prescribed ‘Heavy Nasty Pop’ delivers a brand new dimension to their sound and makes this single release something very special indeed.
All sounds good so far right, well it gets better…when the band’s label suggested a performance based video for ‘7 Minute Itch’ it’s fair to say there was no collective first pumping going on…that was until the band had an idea!
Tired of witnessing dodgy miming voiceovers in music videos and backing track reliant bands on the live circuit, the band were keen to explore a new realm to their released music and decided to film and record the music for the video and single simultaneously, all completely live!
The raw energy, ragged imperfections and spontaneity only found in a live performance enhances ‘7 Minute Itch’ and the video making it a gritty turbulent rendition, which in part resembles the destructive nature of the relationship the song centres around. Liela’s partner in crime Toby Butler from Roman Remains and The Duke Spirit also features, adding yet another chaotic dimension to proceedings with a total of seven bodies performing the single. Have you caught your breath yet? This is no ordinary single release.
‘7 Minute itch’ is released on the 16th March via 1-2-3-4 Records and is available as an iTunes bundle which features both the live single and album versions of the track and is backed with ‘Appetites’ which of course is performed…100% live! Pre-order here and hook into a band who can ‘really’ play.
