Announces February/March UK and European live dates
Plays the Roundhouse – Monday, 13th March
New album The Altar released September 30th
(Virgin EMI)
With the nearing release of her hotly awaited second album The Altar, BANKS has announced a run of UK and European live dates in February and March, culminating in a headline performance at London’s Roundhouse on March 13 (full dates below). The shows mark her first live performances in the UK since headlining Brixton Academy at the end 2014. Fans will gain access to an exclusive pre-sale when they pre-order the album on BANKS’ official store here: http://shop.virginemi.com/banks/
The announcement comes hot on the heels of BANKS’ performance of her new single ‘Gemini Feed’ on the first episode of the new series of Later with Jools Holland on BBC 2 alongside Jack White, Kings Of Leon, M83 and others, and the addition of the track to the BBC Radio 1 ‘In New Music We Trust’ playlist.
Banks was also recently the subject of an NPR mini-documentary on her music and the making of the new album. Watch the mini-documentary below.
Since premiering as Annie Mac’s Hottest Record, BANKS’ latest single ‘Gemini Feed’ has continued making waves. NME called it “a propulsive, up-tempo statement of sheer intent”, while Rolling Stone described it as “Banks’ hypnotic, stinging new single”. It quickly entered the Top 20 Spotify Global Viral Chart with over four and a half million streams, was one of Hype Machine’s most blogged videos, and received wide ranging support at radio in the cross section of BBC Radio 1, 1Xtra, Capital Xtra, and BBC Radio 2 among others.
BANKS’ second album The Altar features 13 new songs, yet again all written and creatively controlled by BANKS. It sees her pushing into ever more exhilarating and adventurous sonic and emotional territory in an inspiring confrontation of complicated love, longing, betrayal and self-doubt.
On September 30th, 2016, BANKS beckons you to the altar.
