Releases new single ‘Gemini Feed’

Premiered as Annie Mac’s Hottest Record on BBC Radio 1 – Listen HERE

Reveals details of new album The Altar

Coming September 30th

BANKS has revealed details of her second full-length album, The Altar (Virgin EMI), alongside airing new single ‘Gemini Feed’, which premiered last night as Annie Mac’s Hottest Record on BBC Radio 1. The album, which will be released September 30th, is available to pre-order now and includes instant grat downloads of ‘Gemini Feed’ and ‘Fuck With Myself’, which first heralded BANKS’ return.  Pre-order the album HERE.
The Altar features 13 new songs, yet again all written and creatively controlled by BANKS. An inspiring confrontation of complicated love, longing, betrayal and self-doubt, it sees BANKS pushing her edges into ever more exhilarating and adventurous territory.
New single ‘Gemini Feed’, which was produced by SOHN, opens the album with an acapella vocal echoing over somber piano keys before a cybernetic synth kicks in. Its fiery emotionality bleeds into a refrain that’s equally maddening and majestic, luring in the listener with a mesmerising chant of “We were so depressive” before hitting an explosive r&b-inflicted chorus.

‘Fuck With Myself’ and its bold, chilling video announced BANKS’ return to a flurry of excitement and praise. The Guardian decreed: “this track should equal an automatic promotion to pop’s top tier”, while the Sunday Times described it as “brooding, pulsating electro, like Prince and Janet Jackson at their most minimal”, and NME featured it in its Best New Tracks as “Best To Empower Yourself”. ‘Fuck With Myself’ was featured in Spotify’s New Music Friday playlist, entered the UK viral Spotify charts and was added to Apple Music Best Of The Week playlist. On radio, it was lauded by Nick Grimshaw and Zane Lowe among others, and went straight to the Rinse FM A-List. BANKS also stopped by Jamz Supernova’s BBC Radio 1Xtrashow where she dropped a Mini Mixtape of her favourite songs.

Since the release of her debut album Goddess in 2014, BANKS has continued to instigate endless commentary. She became the “#1 Most Blogged About Artist Globally – Mid Year & Year End 2014 Charts,” according to Hype Machine, in addition to seizing #1 on Billboard’s Twitter Emerging Artists Chart and Trending Chart.  She landed on year-end best albums lists from Rolling Stone, The Guardian, Slant, and many others. Following the release of Goddess at the end of 2014 she played a sold out headline show at Brixton Academy in London, and prior to that performed two consecutive sold out nights at KOKO, in addition to supporting The Weeknd on tour both in North America and in Europe.

On September 30th, 2016, BANKS beckons you to the altar.
