Barnt – ‘Ariola’ (Cómeme and Not )

Cologne based artist and owner of the label Magazine, Daniel Ansorge, otherwise known as Barnt has produced a techno ep full of treats with this four tracker, ‘Ariola’.

‘Tunsten’ is sleek and minimal, if you could have nightmares while being awake, it would sound like this. The EP title track works better as a DJ tool due to a lack of variation, ‘Stac’ almost suffers from this then two minutes in, the darkest synth line to ever be played rips the tune apart. The highlight, however, is the closing track, ‘Tunsten Melopella’.

Beginning with two minutes of synths which could have soundtracked a thousand 80’s horror movies, a mid-tempo skipping techno beat adds to the OTT drama of it all. 7/10
