Basement sign to Warners Bros and release deluxe edition of ‘Promise Everything’

Ipswich quintet Basement have signed to Warner Bros. Records in a deal which sees them represented by Fueled By Ramen internationally. Basement have built a growing and global cult fanbase, notably with the band’s critically acclaimed 2016 album ‘Promise Everything’. The Line of Best Fit’s review of the album concluded, “With a sense of perfection that may be tumultuous, ‘Promise Everything’ is as real a record as you’ll find. Swooning in some places and stormy in others, Basement have never sounded this good.”

First on the horizon will be the release of a Deluxe Edition of ‘Promise Everything’. The album’s original ten tracks have been re-mastered with a re-recorded version of the title track, a remix of ‘Aquasun’, and also boasts four bonus tracks: their interpretation of The Cardigans’ ‘My Favourite Game’, acoustic versions of ‘Aquasun’ and ‘Blinded Bye’, and the acoustic track ‘Cloud’ which originally appeared on a limited edition 7” single of the song “Promise Everything”.

Vocalist Andrew Fisher explains, “When we recorded the album ‘Promise Everything’ we didn’t have the luxury of time. The concept of sitting on songs and making sure we were happy with their arrangement was alien to us. With the re-release of the record we felt it was the perfect opportunity to go back to the song we thought was the strongest and make it as good as we could. Here’s what we came up with! Formed in Ipswich in 2009, Basement comprises of brothers, Andrew Fisher (vocals) and James Fisher (drums), plus Alex Henery (guitar / vocals), Ronan Crix (guitar) and Duncan Stewart (bass). Just a year after forming, Basement released their debut album ‘I Wish I Could Stay Here’ and quickly followed it with 2012’s breakthrough second album ‘Colourmeinkindness’. Despite growing international acclaim the band decided to take a break and peruse other passions.

Over the course of the next two years Basement went on to gain an intensely devoted following as their music continued to find an audience regardless of their inactivity. In 2014, they regrouped to pen the ‘Further Sky’ EP, which breathed new life into the five friends. Inspired by the creative chemistry they felt from the sessions, Basement were ready to begin on a more significant body of work, which would later become 2016’s celebrated ‘Promise Everything’.

After selling out London Koko and supporting Bring Me The Horizon on their huge arena tour last year, Basement will embark upon a UK headline tour next month which includes a three-night sold out residency at London’s Bush Hall – already nine of the tour’s eleven shows are sold-out. Basement will then head out on a North American trek with Thursday and Touche Amore, which commences on March 28^th at Boston’s House of Blues. In addition, the band have just been confirmed for their first major UK festival of the summer when they play Download on June 11^th.
