In Us We Trust LP Out Now
BEACH is the indie-electro rock project fronted by the artist also known as Bitch (nee Karen Mould.) Today, she releases her highly anticipated new full-length album, In Us We Trust, via her own Short Story Records! Full of humor, hope, despair & jagged edges, the album is an unforgettable statement on the energy of the city, and is now available via her store and other prominent digital retailers.
In Us We Trust album cut “O, Packaging” is perhaps the most representative of the LP’s shift in sonic landscape: as life imitates art, during the making of the album, Karen left her home of 15 years in Brooklyn, where she had begun the album with producer Roger Paul Mason, and moved to Los Angeles. “O, Packaging” is a ukulele-filled, seemingly upbeat oeuvre over sardonic, cutting lyrics critical of big city life and the materialistic trials & tribulations of the modern era. Check out the “O, Packaging” MP3 where it premiered with PopMatters or HERE. We encourage you to post & share!
Album track “Ibuprofen” is an immediately anthemic break-up song featuring a biting rap chorus and distorted vocal layers. “Love Was A River,” meanwhile, is a soulful track topped with Karen’ signature electric violin & sultry vocals.
Previously known for her bands Bitch and Animal & Bitch and the Exciting Conclusion, Karen is also known for appearing as Bitch in the John Cameron Mitchell film Shortbus. Learning classical violin at the age of 4, she studied fiddling with Andrew Bird and expanded her musical experimentation horizons. She released her first solo record Make This/Break This with legendary label Kill Rock Stars.
