With less than 10 weeks to go, Beacons Festival continue to add new artists and DJs to the already weighty bill. Leading the announcement are London based producers Nick Harriman and Alfie Granger-Howell aka Dusky, who are a name that has become instantly synonymous with UK house and techno. In 2011 they marked themselves out as accomplished electronic musicians with their critically acclaimed “Stick By This” LP, then 2012 was the year that Dusky took over the dancefloor and cemented their position at the forefront of the house music underground.
Neneh Cherry and dynamic London duo RocketNumberNine will bring their organic, progressive, electronic collaboration, which Cherry describes as ‘fearless and hardcore’ to Beacons for the first time. Featuring combined elements of beat poetry, avant-electronica and beautiful vocal melodies their recent live shows have been hailed as a terrific return to form.
Ralph Lawson, one of the world’s best house DJs and one of the original Back To Basics crew returns to Beacons Festival this year. He’s been instrumental in launching and buoying the careers of artists such as Huxley, Stacey Pullen and Maya Jane Coles and was a highlight of last year’s festival.
With one of the best live dance music shows on the planet, Crazy P Soundsystem have been leaving their mark on the landscape of British dance music for the last 15 years. Their performance at the festival will no doubt be a highlight for many.
Huxley, born Michael Doman, has spent the past two years firmly cementing his place in the UK house scene. Raised on a diet of UK & US Garage, House and early rave music, Huxley has made his own distinctive mark on house music. He’s joined on the bill by R & S Records’ new bass and techno prodigy Pariah.
PBR Street Gang is a DJ partnership known and respected as technically sound selectors and their style of bumping, groovy and funky house and disco music has secured them spots at clubs and festivals the world over with Beacons being the latest.
They’ll be performing alongside a wealth of other DJs in the form of Arthur Barr, Butter Side Up DJs, Dan Shake, Dave Hallam, Deep Fever, Future boogie, Joe Morris , Joe’s Bakery, Kat Katumba, Loco, Luv* Jam, Steven Howe, The Mendez Brothers, Optimo, Tom Oliver, Tristan Da Chuna, and Wayward.
Heading up the list of bands, the festival is pleased to welcome Tall Ships who are seen as one of the UK’s most innovative and talented groups and pioneers of the underground math-rock scene.
Beacons also continues to present the best new bands the UK has to offer with Glass Animals, the first signing to producer Paul Epworth’s new label Wolf Tone, who will be joined by the Jen Long (BBC Radio 1) endorsed Lovepark, recent Guardian band of the day Babystrange and the soulful electronic trio of Years and Years. They sit on the bill alongside Racing Glaciers, Tasker, Night Flowers, and New York’s Public Access T.V.
Beacons Festival now boasts the very best in exclusive performances and cutting-edge music with full arts and food programme being announced very soon.
