Bien Releases “Spinning On Blue” Single
June 9, 2017 (Nashville, TN) — Nashville indie-pop trio Bien has released a dreamy new single called “Spinning On Blue” that is now available to stream and download at all digital outlets. “Spinning On Blue” follows the group’s self-titled debut EP back in September of 2016. Bien says, “There’s so much going on in the world right now, and we really wanted to write something that encouraged people to remember we’re all sharing this planet. It’s our kind of ‘seize the day’ song that reminds us to take in the beauty and wonder of the world and the people around us.”

Consisting of Nashville songwriters, Jessie Early, and Angela & Tim Lauer, this trio blends synthetic and organic sounds into a melodic swirl of keyboards, strings, electronic percussion and indie-pop vocals. Bien’s debut EP garnered praise from tastemaker sites that include Indie Shuffle and Hillydilly for its uplifting brand of dream-pop.
The project began when Jessie and Angela came away from a writing session for another Nashville artist with a batch of songs that seemed to fit in their own category. They brought those initial homemade recordings to Angela’s husband, renowned producer/musician Tim Lauer (Kaleo, Taylor Swift, The Civil Wars, Foy Vance, and Mikky Ekko), and together the three began creating the type of music they had all been longing to hear.
“I love the combination of lo-fi and hi-fi sounds,” Tim says. “We have beautifully recorded strings, combined with vocals that were sung directly into an iPad, and some very simple beats programmed in GarageBand. The sound is synthetic but breathes with tons of humanity. It’s electronic but organic at the same time.”
Bien is also a project consisting of international collaboration. Once Jessie and Angela wrote the lyrics and brought the framework to Tim, they would then reach out to musicians all around the world to add input to each song without giving them any direction on where to take the sound. Collaborators include Aaron Sterling (John Mayer, Lana Del Rey), Peter Kvint (Britney Spears, Natasha Bedingfield), the Love Sponge String Quartet (Jason Mraz, Kaleo), Victor Indrizzo (Beck, Damien Rice), and a duet with Matthew Perryman Jones as heard on the self-titled EP.
All three members of Bien know their way around a good pop hook. Combined, they’ve landed their songs in prime-time advertisements for some of the world’s biggest brands, including Coke, Target, BMW, Tiffany & Co., Microsoft, and Nike. They’ve traveled across the globe, written music for a diverse roster of artists, and continue to collaborate on projects beyond film/tv.
