BIG NOBLE SHARE ‘STAY GOLD’ TRACK AND VIDEO

Big Noble, an ongoing collaboration between Interpol’s Daniel Kessler and sound designer Joseph Fraioli, have released the second track and video from their upcoming First Light LP, via T, the New York Times Style Magazine’s blog.
Directed by Andrew Robertson, the clip for ‘Stay Gold’ hints at the complicated emotional lives behind everyday urban chaos. Like its predecessor ‘Peg’, the track and video reflect Big Noble’s integration of sound and place, via manipulated field recordings with gorgeous guitar landscapes.

The origins of Big Noble can be traced to New York City in 1999, when Kessler – then label manager for experimental electronic label Caipirinha – met Fraioli upon his signing to the label for his debut album under the alias Datach’i. As the two moved on, Fraioli released ten critically acclaimed albums and founded the company Jafbox Sound, which specializes in providing immersive sound design for advertising and film; Kessler formed the band Interpol, and has released five albums while touring worldwide as their guitarist and songwriter.

In 2008, Fraioli enlisted Kessler to provide source material for a film project. The result bridged Kessler’s unmistakable guitar sounds with Fraioli’s tonal textures in a web of enveloping melancholia, and spawned the formation of Big Noble. Fraioli describes the intentions of Big Noble as “immersive and perspective-changing…sonically a lot of the arrangements feel technically vast, but there’s an intimacy that I hope listeners will find addictive to escape within.”
