Biig Piig has today dropped a remix of new single ‘FUN’ from hotly-tipped artist-producer yunè pinku, which is available now on RCA. ‘FUN’ continues its incredible ascent having just been playlisted at BBC Radio 1 and 6Music, ahead of more from Biig Piig to follow soon: she also recently collaborated with Blu DeTiger on ‘Crash Course’, in addition to recent work with Lava La Rue and the pair’s co-founded NiNE8 Collective.
From its haunting opening to its nocturnal house groove, the D&B rush of ‘FUN’ is thrown into fresh light today by yunè pinku. With both acts of Irish descent, it proves the perfect meeting of minds with Biig Piig and her own cautionary tale of youth at the dark heart of ‘FUN’: a theme taken to darkly cinematic territory in the ride-or-die relationship of the original video, which dropped recently.
‘FUN’ has proved a thrilling return from Biig Piig, exploring a new subculture of sounds with a curiosity – and honesty – that’s still quintessentially Biig Piig’s own. Marking the start of a new chapter in her life between Los Angeles and London, the single follows her immersive and imaginative lockdown EP – The Sky Is Bleeding – on top of huge dates with the likes of Glass Animals, Jungle, and collaborations ranging from Metronomy to Emotional Oranges.
Biig Piig is one of modern pop’s genuine one-offs, and a young woman who has come of age across a period of experimentation and self-evaluation. From the trilogy of DIY EPs she dropped as a teenager onwards, Biig Piig has moved between genres and stories with songs that speak effortlessly of youth culture. On breakout singles like ‘Feels Right’, Biig Piig has grown a vast global audience for her instantly-identifiable sound: with over 200 million streams, sold-out tours, and co-signs ranging from Billie Eilish and Virgil Abloh to Lil Nas X and Clairo. Like much of her hugely eclectic catalogue to date, there is a more introspective side to ‘FUN’ than may first meet the eye for Biig Piig – but it also signals someone who has taken the time to work out who she is, what she wants, but as ever leaves you questioning where she might go next…
An understated but undeniable star, watch out for much more to come from Biig Piig to follow soon.
