“Unfiltered, empowering anthems from Irish star’s genre-busting new era” NME
“Weaving in and out of introspective thoughts on escapism, romances, work and friendships between English and Spanish…you’ll be hearing a lot more of Biig Piig” The Observer
“Razor sharp lyrical observations about the angst and emotions of youth” Dazed & Confused
“Few artists capture the smoke-filled haze of adolescence quite like Biig Piig” Crack

Biig Piig has today premiered her incredible new track, ‘Feels Right’, which is available now on RCA. The night-out that never was, Jess’ third single of the year caps an eventful 2020 for Biig Piig, with ‘Don’t Turn Around’ becoming her first playlisted record at BBC Radio 1, following on from the tumultuous ‘Switch’ (where she made her TV debut on ‘Later…With Jools Holland). Having surpassed 50  million streams, won vocal fans ranging from Billie Eilish and Clairo to Virgil Abloh, as well as appearing on a recent BBC Introducing Women In Music panel (with the likes of Este from Haim), Biig Piig is currently working on her debut album. She is also one of three of the biggest up-and-coming artists co-curating the brand new Our Generation Spotify playlist.

Even behind closed doors, 2020 has proved a breakthrough twelve months for Biig Piig. The Irish (via West London, and Malaga) artist has come of age as a songwriter and young woman: an instantly-identifiable, bilingual voice, blending a suitably global mix of influences (hip-hop, R&B, dance music, stripped-back soul) into confessional, genre-fluid modern pop. Musically euphoric but emotionally potent, ‘Feels Right’ brings all this together into the hazy fantasy of a lost night out, in more ways than one…

“Feels Right’ is a track about the energy of a night out. I miss going out so much. The feeling of letting go and being surrounded by sweaty people; meeting strangers and one-night romances; the tunes and ecstasy. Feel like pure shit just want her back :'(. So we made ‘Feels Right’ with that in mind. The closest we can get to that feeling again right now is writing about it.”

Despite the lost days (and nights), Biig Piig’s ability to find moments of calm and clarity in the most chaotic of circumstances remains a constant. At just 22 years old, she no doubt has more life experiences to draw all this from than most new artists. The oldest of four, Jess was born in Ireland but spent her formative years in Spain, before moving to Shepherd’s Bush and later working as a poker dealer. Despite speaking English at home, Biig Piig initially only knew how to read and write in Spanish; a rocky transition through which eventually she found her people. These proved to be college-mates NiNE8 Collective, the eight-person-strong network of London-based creatives which Jess founded alongside Lava La Rue (and still collaborate, with a group mixtape dropping this autumn). Having gone viral with early tracks like ‘Vice City’, Biig Piig’s acclaimed trilogy of EPs took her into a year that appears to have emboldened her as an artist. She has found the sort of young community (and worldwide fanbase) that can only emerge from a shared feeling of helplessness. It’s an attitude that’s there in the alias of Biig Piig itself, which Jess found when reading it drunk off a pizza menu – in a night not unlike ‘Feels Right’ – and relating to the sense that we’re all, secretly, a little bit of a mess. An understated but undeniable star, her new single is a testament to Biig Piig following whatever ‘Feels Right’, and wherever it takes her next.
