Björk to perform in Aarhus for the first time in 25 years at NorthSide Festival
NorthSide Festival has announced Björk for their 2018 line-up, and it’ll be the Icelandic star’s first show in Aarhus in 25 years.
The festival will run for three days from 7-9 June, and Björk’s performance will take place on the first day. Other acts previously announced for the line-up are Queens of the Stone Age, Sleaford Mods, The National and Father John Misty amongst others. On 9 June, Deerhunter will take to the stage with Tyler, the Creator.
NorthSide spokesman John Fogde said in a press statement, “It’s amazing that we are now able to bring Björk back to Aarhus… She is undoubtedly in a class by herself musically and she is the rare combination of a constantly evolving artist who also has a broad appeal because of her incredible catalogue. So we are incredibly excited to see which show the inventive singer will bring to NorthSide.”

Following the recent announcement of Björk – who is set to perform in Aarhus for the first time in 25 years – NorthSide 2018 reveal the next wave of global acts joining Queens Of The Stone Age, The National, Tyler The Creator and Father John Misty in Denmark next summer.
Having been a festival favourite in 2016, it was a no-brainer for NorthSide to invite back the legend that is Beck. Following his GRAMMY-Award winning album ‘Morning View’, he is set to take ‘Colors’ to the live arena. In his impressive 25 year career, no two albums have sounded the same and revellers can expect Beck to bring the party to Aarhus during his headline set on Saturday 9th June. Joining him will be the superstar producer Diplo whose relentless string of bangers will be sure to turn the festival into a mega rave as soon he gets behind the decks. Diplo has remained in the limelight ever since he produced the smash hit ‘Paper Planes’ by M.I.A, and high profile collaborations with the likes of Sia, Beyonce, Skrillex and Justin Bieber, have cemented him as one of the best in our generation. Diplo’s debut appearance at NorthSide is certainly not one to be missed!
NorthSide continue to demonstrate why they are gaining a wider international reputation as the place to be next summer. The versatility in genre and consistent quality will be evident in 2018 and as well as hip hop, folk and rock, festival-goers can look forward to contemporary jazz and funk from the multi-instrumentalist Thundercat, pop-punk anthems such as ‘The Middle’ and ‘Sweetness’ courtesy of the platinum selling Jimmy Eat World and ethereal R&B from American duo Rhye.
The expanding festival, set in Denmark’s second city and European Capital of Culture, is expected to entertain over 40,000 music fans next year and prides itself on achieving its 100% organic status.
NorthSide 2018 runs from the 7th to 9th of June in Ådalen, Aarhus. One day, three day and VIP tickets can all be purchased through NorthSide.dk
