The Blaze release their highly anticipated debut EP Territory April 7th on Animal 63, the new venture of Savoir Faire (founder of esteemed electronic imprint Bromance Records) and Believe Recordings.

Acclaim for first single and title track ‘Territory’, with its stunning cinematic video, has spread like the wildfire the duo’s name suggests – receiving high praise from Moonlight director Barry Jenkins and international outlets including The Guardian, The Fader and Stereogum, while instigating a flurry of conversation online as a leftfield viral hit, with over 1.3 million views on YouTube in a month. Meanwhile, The Blaze’s first offering, the equally confounding video for their 2016 word-of-mouth underground hit ‘Virile’, also featured on the EP, has similarly surpassed a million views on YouTube.

The debut release from the tandem of music producers and directors provides an insight into a newfound emotional dictionary, both visceral and implied, with six tracks of melodic, pulsating electronics, dotted by poignant vocals and poetic lyrics, that leave a uniquely haunting impression.

The Blaze emerged out of nowhere in 2016 with captivating audio-visual offering ‘Virile’, released as part of Bromance Records compilation Homieland Vol. 2. An exploration of euphoria and camaraderie, the video became one of the most talked about underground discoveries of the year and won Best Pop Alternative Video at the UK Video Music Awards.

Filmed in Algiers by the duo and produced by French company Iconoclast, the hypnotic visual for ‘Territory’ follows an emotional and multifaceted homecoming. It explores themes of belonging, masculinity, savagery and tenderness, embodying the urgency and adroitness of The Blaze’s work and heralding a singular and fascinating new artistic voice.
