3RD TO 5TH JULY 2014, VICARAGE FARM, HAMPSHIRE

Second Wave Of Music Announced!

Film Festival Announced!

Full Festival Activities Announced!

“The stuff festival dreams are made of” Clash
“A great mix of artists, perfect weather, great site,
fantastic food, and just the right atmosphere” – eFestivals

“You have to hand it to them: they know how to throw a party” – Notion Magazine
“Blissfields has mastered the small festival” – Virtual Festivals

Following the announcement of 2ManyDJs, Hercules & Love Affair, Tune-Yards and many more diverse acts for its 2014 event, the festival is now pleased to unveil its second wave of artists for this July 3rd to 5th in Hampshire. Spector, Bipolar Sunshine, Johnny Flynn, Thumpers, Éclair Fifi, Years And Years, and Laurel, lead the announcement for the award-winning and intimate family-friendly festival for forward-thinking music fans. Also unveiled is the sophomore Blissfields Independent Film Festival, offering the chance for budding film-makers to screen their short movies during the event, as well as info on all areas of Blissfields 2014. Tickets are available now via www.blissfields.co.uk.
Spector make their welcomed return to Blissfields, bringing the Roxy Music-esque sharp pop of debut record Enjoy It While It Lasts – which reached #1 on the Official Record Store Chart on release – back to the main stage, no doubt previewing new material already destined for the climax of indie discos across Britain. They’re joined on the main stage by Bipolar Sunshine, tipped by Fader Magazine as “primed for big things” and cited by The Guardian as “confusing, but in a good way” his music is quickly picking up adulation for incorporating influences as diverse as Arctic Monkeys and Kanye West.
Few solo artists have captured the folk imagination over the past few years as much as Johnny Flynn, making his much anticipated and long overdue first appearance at Blissfields following the release of greatly admired albums A Larum and Been Listening which positioned Flynn at the center of nu-folk alongside contemporaries and sometimes collaborators Marcus Mumford and Laura Marling.
To complete a special Friday night dance takeover line-up of Snakehips and TCTS – KYAN is now confirmed, fresh from touring with London Grammar, joining Kidnap Kid, who’s recently been on the road with Disclosure – crafting a tastemaker bill for summer 2014.
As well as the Fields Of Bliss Spa, which is new for 2014, a new stage has also been launched. Taking its cue from the acoustic stage of 2013, The Larch is the place to be in 2014 for the best merging folk and acoustic acts by day, and by night this venue turns into a lively, late-night dance hall for swingers, flappers and vintage ravers.
In usual Blissfields tradition, this second wave includes some of the most acclaimed artists from a varied spectrum of music including the world of pop, indie, folk – and with the addition of Radio 1 “In New DJ’s We Trust” presenter Éclair Fifi – dance music as well. The festival’s mission to bring a truly eclectic event, without compromise, to an intimate setting is once again at the core of its 2014 ethos.
Also announced now is information on all of Blissfields areas including Electric Dreams Cinema and Independent Film Festival, Angel Gardens Family & Kids Area, The Fields Of Bliss Spa, Amoeba To Zebra area, Blissfields Beer Festival, Craft Area, Sports Day Arena, and much more… making this without doubt the most packed Blissfields festival ever programmed…

Electric Dreams
We’ll always be together, together in Electric Dreams!

Organizers are also pleased to announce the return of the Blissfields Independent Film Festival, now in association with one of the country’s biggest movie websites – Den Of Geek. Once again judges will select their favorite short film to win Best In Show from fan submissions. The competition is open to any budding filmmaker, director or producer… as long as you own the rights to your film, and it’s between 5 and 15 minutes long, you can submit via the Blissfields website to be screened during the festival in the luxurious, specially built Electric Dreams Cinema.
Judges include; Bee Adamic (Video producer), Beth Walker (Founder, DocHouse), Chris Bell (Branchage / Shuffle Festival), Frazer Churchill (Visual Effects Supervisor, Scott Pilgrim and The World’s End), Joel Ransom (Writer, The News), Keir Mills (Promoter, Soundtracks), Nick C (Writer, MCM Buzz), Nicholas Burman (Music Supervisor, Record-Play), Simon Brew (Editor, Den Of Geek), Paul Hanford (Future Cinema / Secret Cinema), and Ray Panthaki (Producer / Actor, Kidulthood and 28 Days Later).
The mini cinema will be kitted out with carpets and sofas, plush curtains and scatter cushions to make your boutique viewing experience chilled and comfortable and the big screen and soundsystem will bring all the films to life.
Following each evening’s screening of independent shorts, a selection of much-loved and acclaimed movies will be shown to take Blissfields into the wee small hours. During the day the stage will be used to showcase the exciting and engaging collective DocTent.
DocTent is about bringing documentary film to festivals in a new and unique way. As well as producing a fan- generated film of the festival their main aim is to open up documentary’s ability to enlighten, challenge and inspire through screenings of carefully chosen documentaries accompanied by Q&A sessions with the makers behind them. A visit to their tent will allow an uplifting engagement with the wider world, rare at a festival, without shattering the pleasant escape from reality which Blissfields allows.

Blissfields Beer Festival…
in association with Hobgoblin

Blissfields are very pleased to announce the return of its Beer Festival, once more teaming up with the legendary Hobgoblin to offer an array of specially chosen ales – hand picked to best compliment the selection of food available to buy on site.
Served from the amazing theatrical Hobgoblin truck bar Blissfields will be providing in total 10 beverages for tasting from around the country, including four local ales/ciders. This will be a perfect accompaniment to the music festival main bar. In addition there will be a selection of cask beers in The Larch as well, which being situated in the craft area, and programming a daily acoustic lineup, is the natural home of real ale on the Blissfields site.
Keep an eye out for a stellar lineup of beers to be announced in due course!

Fields Of Bliss Spa

New for 2014, the festival launches Fields Of Bliss Spa – a tranquil haven in which to relax and pamper yourself. With red cedar wood hot tubs, saunas, massage, showers, freshly laundered hammam towels and a relaxation area, the spa will ensure you leave feeling fully refreshed, invigorated and ready to step back into the wild. Overlooking the golf course (YES, Blissfields has a mini golf course) it is ideally positioned to kick back and relax. Add to this the opportunity to book a luxurious Sshh Yurt (new to Blissfields) or get spoilt in Camel Camp, and your weekend can be as wild or tame as you desire.

Craft Area

Come and satisfy your artistic side, be inspired by the wonderful array of skilled artisans, create your own unique piece of Blissfields treasure or chill out in the relaxing garden space and watch the more industrious at work!
There are wonderful craft workshops that you can immerse yourself in; how about working with a master saddler; making your own leather bracelet, bag or belt, or maybe carve a piece of jewellery or an incense holder from smooth, gorgeous soapstone, perhaps throw your own completely individual pot on the potters wheel. You could work with a skilled blacksmith to forge something amazing from metal or make a beautiful willow flower garland from a vast array of stunning blooms. Alternatively if you are feeling vibrantly colourful you can tie dye a Blissfields T-shirt to give it your own unique twist!
The craft area is a wonderful, welcoming and relaxing space…

Angel Gardens: Family & Kids Area

Families make up a huge part of the feel of Blissfields, growing as a festival with the local families who first organised and attended it, and that’s how it’s going to stay. Organisers are lucky enough to have the wonderful team at Angel Gardens provide the core fun for families at Blissfields and Angel Sam wants to fill you in on their full to busting programme of events…
Angel Gardens are thrilled to be back in the fields of bliss once more and are excited to be bringing our won cabaret tent as well as all the new and old workshops and activities.
The White Rabbit Cabaret sits in a huge yellow and white tent and you can expect to find all manner of wonders from dance, drama, yoga, music and general daftness. With kids entertainers and your very own cheesy disco with embarrassing dads dancing competition you will enjoy your own stage venue in 2014.
We have some lovely ponies coming on Saturday morning for you to meet, groom and ride, come along and meet them before the bands start in the main arena.
We will be hosting a mass birthday party on Saturday afternoon for anyone having a birthday, with magician, party games and singing… if you have a child or adult celebrating around the time of the festival, bring a cake on the Friday and book it in with us so we can arrange to sing to the birthday girl or boy. But you don’t have to have a birthday to join in, come along as a guest!
We have a number of parties throughout the weekend that you can come and enjoy in our new Big Top, try a princess party or a pirate party, maybe a magic party is for you or a science party? There is no guest list, just come along and join us in the Big Top.
Arts and crafts are our speciality and we have our under 7s craft and make tent as always, for over 7′s right up to adults we have a space with a different class and activity every hour. Starting with yoga running through talks, stories, projects such as hobby horse making, sock pets, bath bombs, chocolate making, sweet making and even giant bubble wand making.
Our Activistz Kidz Club is a brilliant new idea where kids come along and create a protest on something they choose, making banners, learning chants and talking about why people protest and what they achieve. It’s a great educational and exciting project that kids will love, ending with a protest march on Saturday tea time.
The babies and toddlers are cared for too… our baby care tent has all sorts of activities this year as well as the kit you need for changing and feeding. Come take hand casts, sing songs, baby sign and do some baby yoga for a start. watch the boards for more.
Our evening discos are themed this year and we have a onsie disco and Christmas disco complete with count down to new year. All this is peppered with other activities such as a kids choir, bands, meets and greets, treasure hunts, sports day session and so much, much more.
The garden will host a variety of nonsense such as the waterless duck race, silly games tournament and even a staff vs kids tug of war!
With all our activities free this year you can come and stay all day and play, laugh and sing with the blissed out angels of 2014.

Walk On The Wild Side

The British festival is renowned for being a place to leave inhibitions at the door, but for their summer 2014 event Blissfields organisers are inviting you to take a leap even further into the great beyond, into the great YOU. Explore the side of yourself that doesn’t usually run free, the mysterious side that you’d nearly forgotten was there and maybe didn’t even know existed. To walk on the wild side is about finding your spirit animal, your Patronus, and pace with them hand in hand, momentarily to explore, and be as one with the world and it’s nature.
Festival co-founder Melanie Bliss woke up in the wee small hours of a July morning, just after Blissfields 2013, with a vision of drag queens and animals running wild, as an earthy bass-line trembled amid the trees of the festival, an echoing whisper, a chorus of “do de-do, de-do, du, de do-doo …”. It was an electrifying stampede, a beautiful mess! And so the theme was born. Made all the more poignant by the recent passing of Lou Reed, 2014 will be a celebration of living life to the fullest, to look at the world with innocence and a sense of excitement.

Amoeba To Zebra

To complement the “Walk on the Wild Side” theme this year Blissfields are including an educational and debating area dubbed Amoeba To Zebra covering many aspects of the natural world and science, programmed with expert speakers and lecturers to bring alive important topics and have some fun at the same time.
The area will be co-hosted with the festival’s adopted charity for 2014, the Born Free Foundation, who are commemorating their 30th year of campaigning for wildlife and Blissfields are excited to have them along to the party!
“The Born Free Foundation is a dynamic wildlife charity, founded by Virginia McKenna OBE and Bill Travers following their starring roles in the classic film ‘Born Free’.  Today Born Free works throughout the world to save lives, stop suffering, rescue individuals and protect wild animals.  Born Free is delighted to be partnering with Blissfields in 2014, our 30th anniversary year.  Together we will take action to help lions, elephants, tigers, gorillas, wolves, bears, dolphins, marine turtles and much much more.  If you’re wild about animals and want to find out more visit www.bornfree.org.uk.” – The Born Free Foundation

Animal Antics ~ Sports Day

A Blissfields favourite, this centrepiece of the festival site is where you can really unleash your inner animal. This is the epicentre of the festivals fun and games, where anything from mating dancing, food fights and cheetah relay races, to alligator wrestling, cage dancing and paint fights might just be on the agenda.
Entering games and winning will also allow you access to some very secret, invite only parties happening later in the evenings where free drinks and late-night tomfoolery will be on the cards.
Blissfields are also going for a Guinness Wold Record attempt this year for The Most Amount Of People In Animal Print. So bring your best animal costumes and you could be part of history.
